This book on geneology is both informative and entertaining, and I wanted the design to reflect both those aspects. To that end, I chose Photina, a legible serif font that leans towards the informal, to use as for both body and display, and combined it with iterations of a “family tree” piece of illustration, tied together with grey rules. The tree-and-rules motif also added consistency and structure to a wide variety of chapter title and subtitle lengths.
