Design Samples
If you would like to see some full-sized design samples, I’ll be happy to put together a selection of PDFs similar to the project you have in mind. I can either send you a link from which to download the samples, or if you prefer, I can send you a physical disk.
Price Quotes
Every book is different, and I won’t be able to finalize a price without looking at the actual materials, but I can give you a good estimate based on the specifics of the project.
Design quotes are provided as flat fees, based on the complexity of the project. This includes up to 3 full design passes (if needed), and up to 3 additional rounds of design changes/corrections. If I am providing a design alone, the fee will include the provision of design specs using both a page markup and a comp order. If I will also be doing the typesetting/composition work, thereby obviating the need for design specs, the design fee will be correspondingly lower.
Typesetting/composition quotes are provided in flat per-typeset-page fees; this includes the original layout work and up to three rounds of reasonable corrections. This generally results in a lower cost than giving a relatively low base rate plus charging extra hourly correction fees–and it is always helpful to know your final costs up front.
