Ebony and Ivy is a book from Bloomsbury Press on the history of race and slavery in American universities. It’s a serious book on a serious subject, and I was asked to incorporate the cover’s display font into the design. That being the case, I decided to use an ornament on the title page and part and chapter openers that refers in a non-literal way to the cover design, which incorporates an image of a chain woven with a trail of ivy.
