Visions, Images, and Dreams is a book about Yiddish cinema, and is full of wonderful old stills. I placed a selection of the images in the cells of a film strip across the title spread, and then used a much reduced image of the original film strip image as a rule under the chapter number in the chapter openers. I further complemented the historical content of the book by using a classic old-style font.
The challenge in the layout was to make sure the images ran alongside the appropriate text, and to keep their placement interesting (but not overly distracting). And, as you can see above, there were also some extras such as filmographies and interviews to present so that they were clear and easily readable.
